NOTICE OF CONGREGATIONAL MEETING + FAQS: NOMINATIONS FOR THE PULPIT COMMITTEE
Calling all members! On Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 11:40 AM, we will gather immediately after our worship service for a congregational meeting to elect a pulpit committee (pastoral search committee). Here are a few of the questions you may have and our answers to them.
WHO MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE NOMINATION PROCESS?
All communing members of New City Church are eligible to nominate fellow communing members and to stand as nominees.
HOW MANY MEMBERS CAN I NOMINATE FOR THE PULPIT COMMITTEE?
You may put forward as many names as you wish.
CAN I NOMINATE ELDERS AND STAFF?
Yes, all Ruling Elders are members of the congregation and are eligible to be nominated. Non-pastor staff, if they are communing members, are also eligible. Teaching Elders (pastors) are members of their presbytery, not the congregation, and therefore not eligible.
CAN I NOMINATE A FAMILY MEMBER OR EVEN MYSELF?
Yes.
DO I NEED TO CHECK WITH SOMEONE BEFORE PUTTING FORWARD THEIR NAME?
Yes, you must check with everyone you are nominating to confirm that they are willing to stand as a candidate.

HOW DO I GO ABOUT NOMINATING PEOPLE?
Email your nominations to clerk@newcityhamilton.com. In your email, please indicate that you have spoken to each individual you are nominating to confirm their willingness to stand as a candidate. All nominations must be received by 5:00 PM, Friday, October 20, 2023.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
At our next congregational meeting, on Sunday, October 22 at 11:40 AM in our worship space, we will present the names of the nominees who have received at least two nominations from the congregation. Communing members will then be invited to vote for up to eight candidates from the list. More information about the election process will soon be shared in a separate communication.
