NEW STAFF INTERVIEW: CATHERINE MCGEORGE

Moses: Welcome to your new job as administrator of New City! How was your first week in your new job?

Catherine: The first week has been a whirlwind, but so much fun! I am enjoying the variety of tasks that I get to do as well as the variety of people that I have the privilege of interacting with each day. I love this church body and I am blessed to be serving everyone in this way.

Moses: Where did you grow up and what did you do prior to working for New City?

Catherine: I was born in Brantford, but grew up in Naperville, Illinois. At sixteen, my family moved to Stoney Creek and I attended Hamilton District Christian High School, and later, Redeemer University. While at Redeemer, I was blessed to live with a godly group of women and realized I was missing a personal relationship with Jesus! By the grace of God, I submitted my life to Him while attending a Christian university! While at Redeemer, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts – Performance and my Bachelor of Education in Primary Education. After graduating, I spent a year teaching grades 1 and 2 in Siguatepeque, Honduras and later taught at Beacon Christian School in St Catharines. Over the last year, I have been working on a Bible certificate through Ethnos360 Bible Institute that I started in 2020 and nannying part-time for the lovely Wood family. I am happy to say that I will be finished with my program at the end of the month.

Moses: What excites you most about working for New City and what makes you most nervous?

Catherine: I am excited to serve the church and help the church building run smoothly. I keep thanking God that I get to do a job that allows me to support my church family in this way. I am most nervous about the breadth of knowledge required to fill this position. I am learning a lot, so please be patient with me.

Moses: What is something that people might be surprised to learn about you?

Catherine: Some people may be surprised to know that I am most frequently cast as evil, mean or crazy characters in plays and musicals.
